Thank You so much to every one of you that shared comments, emails and visited with me about my last post and my 100 pound journey that I shared.
I mentioned in my last post that one of my healing tools this last year was a class called Soul Restoration and I wanted to share a little bit more about what Soul Restoration is and my journey with it…
I was so fortunate that a very dear friend decided that we both needed to do some healing and shared with me an incredible gift of registration to the Soul Restoration online class. In this 6 week journey of “soul crafting”, art is used as a tool for healing and restoration. It can help you put into perspective the JOY of life & even the hard and sometimes heartbreaking parts that we can face in our journey. “Soul Restoration is intended to help every woman to find and then keep the bravery needed to stay joyfully true to your own path.” Soul Restoration is the creation of Melody Ross & Kathy Wilkins that founded Brave Girls Club in 2009. It is inspiring to me to see their journey’s and to see their flight into a new amazing venture despite their past! I wish them only the best as they continue to change the lives of women through art that heals for all the Brave Girls that join the Brave Girls Club!
Each week during the 6 week class of Soul Restoration video’s were posted and we received PDF files of instructions & artwork to create our ART healing projects and “truths”. During the first week we are taught that we often begin telling ourselves lies and believing things about ourselves that aren’t TRUE…each week in the course materials were pages of written truths and they were one of my favorite parts of the course. I loved reading through the truths and it became easy to start seeing more positive things then negative things in my life. Some of the words wouldn’t apply to me, and it sometimes it made my heart ache when I would realize somewhere, someone was or is dealing with something much more difficult that I am at this moment in their lives. I did and do have real problems and hardships…but being able to see and put in perspective the bigger picture of 100′s of women that were part of Soul Restoration and the hardships they may be dealing with made mine seemed so small and so manageable.
One of the lessons we learned is how we are both strong and weak and to embrace all of us including the things that we believe are shameful or undesirable. None of us are perfect and all of us have flaws and we always will. It is how we learn to work with those strengths and weaknesses that shapes the person we are.
I loved creating the little truth cards that I can pull out to remind me of the truths that I learned in my Soul Restoration journey. I am of worth, I am important to those that I love & love me, I am unique and there is only one me. Nobody is like me and never will be. I am just enough as I am.
…and even though I am enough right now as I am…I will continue to grow, develop and become more than I am today. My wings will continue to unfold and I can soar to new dreams, new paths, new journeys, new relationships and find meaning and enJOY today!
This canvas that I shared a little while ago was one of the joyful things I created from the techniques and truths I learned in Soul Restoration…I LOVE and enJOY the life I am…the people that are part of it and for the journey I have been on so far. I can’t change the past…I can treasure the good parts, I can learn from the mistakes, I can grow from the heartaches and move onto enJOYing today I realized during one of the classes of Soul Restoration that even though I have dealt with hard times and that more may be in the horizon, on the whole my journey so far has been full of more good than bad.
you are a remarkable lady! I love you and am so happy to call you friend!!
