clearing the clutter…

On Monday it was “National Clean Off Your Desk Day” as a way to start the new year off fresh. I missed the announcement on Monday….but saw it posted on a friends facebook page today…so I decided not to wait till 2012 and took advantage of cleaning up my studio a bit today.

I feel very blessed to have a space that is all my own! I spend a lot of time in here so I have tried to make functional and pretty. I have my computer on the desk with a “window” that overlooks our staircase…and yes I have 2 monitors that I LOVE! I can be designing on one and have the internet open on the other. I used to think my husband was crazy to have 2, but now I know why it is so fabulous! I enJOY facing the rest of the house and I can hear what is going on and don’t feel so closed off when I am in my studio.

I have a separate work desk for my creating with a super long counter and lots of drawers. See those jars of HAPPY colors….those are my paints. I hated all the clutter and mismatched labels on all my little jars of acrylic paint, so I ordered these clear plastic bottles & lids. I then put all my paints into the bottles. I found that when I refill them the colors change a little, but since I don’t use them for multiple projects that have to match perfectly that is OK with me. I can also add white to any of them for a lighter shade. I love them!

I have 3 sets of IKEA drawers that I painted and distressed with black ink for holding all sorts of little trinkets & treasures. I have a plan to dress them up that I will share with you when I get them finished. Hopefully sooner than later.

I have another counter height section that has my Sizzix machine and my dies in the drawers. I love my little bucket stand, although I haven’t really found the perfect use for it. But I will….any suggestions? Right now it has some random embellishments in it, but I forget to look at it.

I love to see where others create. Leave me a comment with a link to your studio space!
